Happy 5th Birthday Doonie Bear

6 Mar

I have been MIA from my blog for a very, very long time and so much has happened that I need to catch up on….

BUT I just had to post today.

I want to wish my favorite little boy in the whole world a happy 5th birthday. I can not believe he is 5 and registered for school and the dentist says his baby teeth will start falling out any day now and he can even do addition and subtraction in his head.

Nikkos has changed my life completely and I am positive I would not be where I am today if that little bundle of energy had never entered my life. From the moment he looked into my eyes for the first time I was completely in love. When times were tough he gave me strength, when I have needed a good laugh he has been there to say something funny. When God feels like testing my patience as a parent he is sure there too.

So happy birthday, buddy. I am so excited to watch you grow up and will brace myself for having next years birthday with you in kindergarten and sheesh, at this rate you will probably have the quadratic formula all worked out and will be moving on to the theory of relativity or something.

This year I will cherish you asking to go through the car wash on your birthday, and sharing your presents with your sister because you didn’t think it was fair for you to get some and her not to get to play with them. I will remember how your biggest worry today was which game to play at Chuck E Cheese first. I will enjoy that your favorite present was a workbook from my grandparents.

I will remember you asking if blankies are allowed in heaven. I will remember you being sad that there were homeless men walking across the street and you wanted to buy them a blanket because it was cold outside.

I am so proud of who you are and so excited to see the boy you become. We love you!
