My Sun Stand Still Moments

4 Sep

I was recently listening to a sermon from a church we have been thinking about attending. I wanted to see what their message was and wanted to see if it is a church that we would fit into. Being a young family who hasn’t quite reached our potential, I wanted to make sure it would be a church who wouldn’t judge us.

As I was listening to this particular sermon the pastor was talking about Sun Stand Still moments. These moments are when you have a huge goal that may seem out of reach, but you want to attain it anyway. It got me to thinking what my Sun Stand Still moments are. The thoughts that seem so silly or out of reach that you never even bother bringing up.

Maybe if I write my Sun Stand Still moments down I will feel more accountable for them. So here goes nothing:

I want to buy a house within the next two years

I want Tom to be able to quit his day job within three years so we can work our business full time

I want to be completely debt free

I want to have at least six months of income in savings

I want to have no huge regrets as we try to make these dreams a reality

I want to be a paid writer

I don’t have unreasonable goals in my opinion. I know I have a wonderful, blessed life. I have been lying to myself when I tell myself I don’t find these goals to be a big deal. My Sun Stand Still moments would be life changing if they came true.

I think we are going to give this church a shot. They are a laid back church and they seem to have quite a few young families. They have a great program for the kids and a number of small groups for adults. Now I just need to hope my anxiety cooperates. I’m really not very good at meeting new people or giving off a good first impressions.

Heck, one of my Sun Stand Still moments is to develop a close group of friends who share my same morals and values. That won’t happen if I am too afraid to get out of my comfort zone.

I will pray about it.

Later days blog world!
